Description underneath the photo. Early and scarce Photo Album, most probably bound for the tourist trade. Librairie Nilsson, Paris, in gilt to the bottom of the front board, without a date. An oblong album in a red half leather with red buckram boards and gilt titles to the spine and front board. Page / card edges gold. Contains 50 mounted black and white albumen photographs. The cards are approximately 24 cm x 17.5 cm [9 ½ x 6 ¾ inches]; the photos are approximately 18cm x 11.5cm [7 x 4 ½ inches]. The card has a printed frame with blue decor in the corners and texts in blue above and below the albumen photo. In addition to most of the well-known monuments, it contains numerous street photos. The cards are bound into the volume with cloth and the whole is quite firmly bound. Evidence of damp staining to the external boards with bubbling to the buckram, and internally with damp staining to the card edges and a red stain to a few photos. Waviness to the red and gilt end papers. Pages not numbered. 50 photos. Scarce photo album. Librairie Nilsson is a publishing house founded in Paris in 1885 by Karl Nilsson and bought by Éditions Gründ in 1934. Approximately 7 ¼ nches tall. Condition Report Externally Spine fair condition gilt titles, 4 raised bands separating 5 compartments with gilt decorations, rubbing to the raised bands, worn top and tail, scratches and marks. Joints fair condition rubbed and worn. Corners fair condition bumped and worn. Boards fair condition red buckram boards with gilt titles to the front, signs of damp staining to the front and rear with bubbling to the buckram. Page edges good condition all gilt. Internally Hinges good condition front hinge is loose but holding. Paste downs good condition red and gilt with gilt decoration. End papers good condition red and gilt decoration, some damp staining down the centre which has made the papers wavy. Pages good condition numerous pages containing scenes of Paris, some damp staining to the card edges throughout, cards are tanned, first photo with a red stain down the centre, others clean.
