Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. A very good copy in a near fine, unclipped, dust jacket. The red cloth binding is clean and bright with strong gilt title lettering, and tight, square corners. There is a little white discolouration to the rear bottom right corner. The binding is solid with no weakness or cracking to the hinges. Other than a small bookseller sticker to the front pastedown there are no ownership inscriptions or markings of any other kind. The unclipped dust jacket (15s net) shows minor edgewear, and small losses to the top spine end. All is now protected in a removable mylar cover. From the blurb: "The author does not state or attempt to solve any racial or other problem; his interest is human life. He really knows the Afrikaner, his life and language, his customs and traditions, and not since Olive Schreiner's Story of an African Farm has he been so fully delineated".
