Handwritten Letter. Condition: Very Good. Signed four page hand written letter by Rev. C. E. C. Lillingham to George Batnham sent from XXII General Hospital, Pretoria, South Africa regarding his ministerial activities. Lillingham served the Anglican Church in South Africa during the Boer War and was charged with ministering to the British troops engaged in the War. Letter Dated March 31, 1902 just as Boer War was ending. Letter contains details about colliding with a Cafe Cart driven by a black driver. Regarding the War, letter states: "Peace rumors are thick, & every day we are expecting to hear that peace has been proclaimed. I don't expect to be home until some months after the war ends, because so many troops will be left out here." Dimensions closed: 8" x 5". Edges smooth; no chips, folds or tears.
