Den är till huvudsaklig del en sammanfattning av en av den ålandsfödde dr. K. Aug. Bomansson redan år 1852 avfattad skildring av dessa händelser. Förf. har dock tillika rådfrågat nyare arbeten om sista finska kriget av svenskarna Nordensvan och Björlin, finländaren Schulman samt den svenska generalstabens arbete om samma krig m. fl. Det har synts kunna vara lämpligt att i dessa dagar av aktuellt intresse för Åland ge den svenska allmänheten en kännedom om denna ålänningarnas för 100 år sedan utkämpade frimodiga kamp för sin svenskhet."
