No Binding. Condition: Good. Antique hand colored lithograph. from French publication La Caricature (Journal) No.88 Plate no.177 Nous pouvons nous vanter de l avoir joliment gagnée, nous autres ! a design attributed to Frederic Bouchot. lithograph by Victor Hippolyte Delaporte; published by Paris, : Aubert,1832. overall dimensions 13 7/8 x 10 1/2 ins. description from Paris Museum description, analysis: three national guards stand in a guard post and show each other their decorations. The pl. denounces some of the men of the national guard who received an honorary distinction without even having fought to repress the republicans. The pl. in fact proposes to make fun of a particular category of national guards, those who did not fight but still accepted to be decorated: Crosses were distributed to the victors; some men of honor refused them. Others agreed. Those that we stigmatize here belong to a third species, the parasitic species; she is the one who does not fight, but who always asks for and receives the rewards. Well then! " "some wear, marks, centre fold" I have other La Caricature lithographs listed plus many other European satirical prints.
