The pl. in fact proposes to make fun of a particular category of national guards, those who did not fight but still accepted to be decorated: Crosses were distributed to the victors; some men of honor refused them. Others agreed. Those that we stigmatize here belong to a third species, the parasitic species; she is the one who does not fight, but who always asks for and receives the rewards. Well then!
