Seller: Tennyson Williams Books and Fine Art, Williamsburg, VA, U.S.A.
Manuscript / Paper Collectible First Edition Signed
Single Sheet. Condition: Very Good. Goes Lithographing Company (illustrator). Original. Original lithographed certificate for 10 shares of the capital stock for The Osage Oil & Refining Company, registered to T. B. O'Brien on January 21, 1921. Signed by the company's vice-president Charles E. Dietz and assistant secretary B. C. Guttler. As the name suggests, this was one of the oil companies paying Osage Indians in Osage County, Oklahoma for leases to drill for oil--as seen in the book and popular film, KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON. As far as I can tell, the company generated more litgation than they did barrels of oil. The certificate is in very good condition: generally clean and bright, with light toning and short closed tears at the extremities of the two fold lines. Size: 8 1/4" by 10 3/4". SIGNED. Manuscript.
