Un album à l'italienne de dimensions 20x28,5 cm, illustré de 33 reproductions photographiques sur papier mince, contrecollées, de formats variables. Couverture en carton gaufrée blanc, cordon de brochure brun, photographie contrecollée au centre du premier plat. album d'une série de 12, édité par Maurice Devriès en 1950 dont l'aspect "début de siècle" a engendré de nombreuses erreurs de datation. Dans ce 2e album, photos de Pasteur, Littré, Gustave Doré, Daudet jeune, Hugo, Nadaud, Eiffel, Grévin, Barbey d'Aurevilly, Bouanger.2 discretes fents à la couverture, sinon bon état, bien complet.

Cartonné, rinceaux imprimés à relief, illustration au plat, ruban de brochure brun. Petit sngle du plat épluché, sinon très bon état. Softcover. Condition: Good. Twelve volume set (complete). Oblong quartos. A collection of portraits, with printed handwritten lithographic captions, of famous French men and women of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. Each volume consists of a title page (printed in red and black), six leaves of tipped-in photographic prints on both sides of thick paper (12 pages), and a final leaf with the publisher's imprint. Each volume is ribbon-bound with a red silk lace in an ivory-white decorative embossed wrapper, with a mounted photographic print serving as the centerpiece on the front wrap. Several volumes have small, light dampstains at one or two corners and edges, else very good overall, with light toning on intermittent covers and interior leaves. The photographic prints are all present and well preserved. Each album of portraits is arranged, for the most part, chronologically. From the library of the artists Ben Shahn and Bernarda Bryson Shahn, with an estate label designed by their son, Jonathan Shahn.
