Condition: New. 2010 N&M Press reprint (original pub 1801) 2 volumes bound in one SB xxxix+147 pp & xxxix+186 pp with fine maps and battle plans some in colourPublished Price £38 The Seven Years War pitted Britain, allied with the emerging power of Prussia, against a coalition led by France, and including Austria, Sweden and Sa…xony. Best known in Britain for the wresting away of chunks of the French empire - including Canada - in Europe, the war was most notable for the battles fought, won and sometimes lost by King Frederick the Great of Prussia against Austria and Saxony. This book, written by a British Major-General who served in the Austrian army, covers the battles of Zornsdorf, Hochkirchen, Patzig, Cunnersdorf and Maxen - and is one of the best contemporary accounts of 18th century warfare and the tactics of Frederick. Contains many maps.

Hardcover. Condition: Fair. 4th Edition. Fair. 4th Edition. Fourth Edition 1795, 286pp. Boards and spine generally worn, stained and in indifferent condition.PO name tp front pastedown probably contemporary. Stain to inside front board and fep. The folding map is mainly missing with just one segment still present.the remaining 2… plates are in good condition. Periodic light spotting. This is a very readable copy of a scarce title. The fourth edition differs from the second edition in that the editor's supplement is expanded from four to ten chapters, the extra ones dealing with other aspects of coastal defence, military systems and art. The second plan of defensive measures was engraved by William Faden. An interesting title when referenced against the political climate in France due to the French Revolution and the very real fears of invasion.(286pp).
