This copy's spine is not completely flat and has a bit of roll toward the tail, but not affecting the book's squareness.; This is a brief compendium of printers' slang and anecdotes about how experienced printers made the workdays of their apprentices quite miserable. Compiled by Bay Area printer, typographer, and typefounder Lester Lloyd and, fittingly, by Lloyd's apprentice Alix Christie. Lloyd worked for 54 years at the Mackenzie & Harris hot metal type foundry. One of his greatest achievements was setting type for Moby Dick from Arion press. This is copy 37 of a limited edition of 175 copies. The colophon is signed in ink by both printer-authors. An unstated number of copies was reserved for distribution to The Roxburghe Club. This oblong 16mo book is 6" x 6 3/4". Bound in printed, yellow paper over boards. Each page has a decorative frame, unpaginated, 42 pp. Issued in his own name instead of his imprint Red Squirrel Press, Lloyd produced this little book simply from his love of printing.
