Lyon, Société Linnéenne de Lyon, 1900-1901. Three parts in two. Large 8vo (25.7 x 17.9 cm). 296 pp. [193-272; 1-80, 159-294]. Original, uniform printed wrappers. = The rarest work in the series, Conchyliologie Française. The three other works, by Locard alone, deal with marine, freshwater and terrestrial molluscs from continental France. These are rather common. This is the original publication, published in the society's Annales, new series Volumes 46 and 47 (for 1899 and 1900). Soon it became available as a single, repaginated work, issued in Paris by J. B. Baillière. Arnould Locard (1841-1904) was one of France's most prolific malacologists. Eugène Caziot (1844-1931) is renowned for his great work on the terrestrial molluscs of Monaco and adjacent parts of France. Uncut. Simple tear in first volume's front wrapper, and second volume wrapper's spine top and bottom; otherwise, an excellent, clean copy. Internally immaculate. Cat. BM(NH) p. 1161.…

Uniform blue buckram with gilt title on the spines. Speckled edges. = A seldom-seen complete, uniformly bound set of this important contribution to the malacofauna of France. Written by the French malacologist and 'Nouvelle École' adept, Étienne Alexandre Arnould Locard (1841-1904). Many new species are included. The first three volumes (1892, 1893, 1894) are richly illustrated. The last two volumes, published much later (1899, 1900), seem to be the rarest. The freshwater and deep-water volumes have the original printed wrappers bound in. Spines with five raised bands; compartment with gilt vignettes and titles. Marbled endpapers. = An attractively bound set of this important but seldom-seen contribution to the malacofauna of France. Written by the French malacologist and 'Nouvelle École' adept, Étienne Alexandre Arnould Locard (1841-1904). Many new species are included. A former owner counted the number of species included by adding a small, neat red number after every species name, coming to a total of 1,498 nominal species. Minimal wear to spine and corners, few spots. A fine set.…
