Script divided into sequences, as was customary for the period. Missing one page, likely as used or issued. Based upon J. Edgar Hoover's 1938 true crime book "Persons i…n Hiding." Four films (the J. Edgar Hoover series of G-Men films in which Hoover exercised approval over stories, production and advertising) were based on the book: "Persons in Hiding" (1939), directed by Louis King and starring Lynne Overman and Patricia Morison, "Undercover Doctor," "Parole Fixer" (1940), directed by Robert Florey and starring William Henry and Virginia Dale, and "Queen of the Mob" (1940), directed by James P. Hogan and starring Ralph Bellamy and Blanche Yurka. FBI agent Robert Anders (Lloyd Nolan) becomes suspicious of Dr. Bartley Morgan (J. Carrol Naish). His private practice, run with nurse Margaret Hopkins (Janice Logan), has a veneer of respectability, but is actually a cover to work for and treat mob bosses and gangsters. Self wrappers, rubber-stamped production No. 1914, dated January 5, 1939. 124 leaves, with last page of text numbered E-36. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only. Pages Near Fine, bound with three gold brads.

In one volume LPS gives his address as High Buildings 1898 and there are a few peccilled notes in his hand at the rear of two volumes. The Marquise du Deffand was the centre of a literary and aristocratic circle, and was known for the brilliance of her letters. (Apart from a lengthy Introduction, all text is in French.).
