Original photographs. Condition: g to vg. An original 4 1/2 x 3 1/2" photograph of Charles Reade (1814-1884), an English novelist and dramatist best known for "The Cloister and the Hearth." The photograph, taken in 1878 by Lombardi & Co., London, is pasted on a 7 1/2 x 5 1/4" captioned cardstock, with Reade's facsimile signature at lower margin. The photograph was developed using the the Woodbury mechanical process. Slight fraying to the edges of the cardstock and some closed tears to the left side and upper left corner of the cardstock.

Small signature on the front end-papers dating from 1794. Ex-libris verso front-boards from "Collegii Sancti Eduardi". No date there but probably 19:th century. Corners slightly bumbed. Small worm-hole at the rear part of the third volume. Approx. between pages 477 - 530. Nothing serious.
