Introduction reads Macaulay, born with the century, was twenty-four years old when his first article- that on Milton- appeared in 1824 in the Edinburgh Review. He was thirty-four years old in 1824 when the Edinburgh Review published his first article on Chatham. The sketch was completed ten years later by the other article which first appeared in 1844. One of the Cassell's National Library Series No 66. Advertisements on both endpapers. Book in good condition, clean tight copy. No D.J Illustrated light brown hardback with black lettering and designs. Faded lettering on spine, otherwise also in good condition. Other Nos in this series available Book#01653.
