Large bookseller's green printed label inside front cover, "C. M. Loomis, publisher of Loomis' Musical Journal." 160 pp., light foxing; the last free end paper (blank) torn with loss along the bottom edge. The music is in four parts with round notes. Selections by Fanny Crosby, Hubert P. Main, William B. Bradbury, Kate Cameron, William Bennett, &c.Rev. Robert Lowry (1826-1899) attended the University of Lewisburg, and later Bucknell University, where he became a professor of literature. He was ordained as a Baptist minister and pastored at West Chester, Pennsylvania; Bloomingdale Baptist Church, New York City; Hanson Place Baptist Church, Brooklyn, New York; First Baptist Church, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania; and Park Avenue Baptist Church, Plainfield, New Jersey. He also worked as a music editor at the Biglow Publishing Company. He wrote about 500 Gospel tunes.
