This is a remarkable set in that it still has the very attractive original boards, now with mylar jackets to protect them. Volume I: vii, 523 plus errata page. Volume II: Title page plus 253 pages. Text is in English, but there is the occasional Hebrew word or phrase. Lowth, Robert, 1710-1787. Lectures delivered as professor of poetry at Oxford 1741-48. He held that Hebrew is the language spoken in Paradise (DNB) [The title continues:] Subjicitur metricae Harianae brevis confutatio: et oratio Crewiana. Bookplate of Society of S. John the Evangelist on the pastedown of volume 2 and a fragment of the same bookplate in volume 1.
