In half calf binding with marbled boards. Externally, leather to Vol I spine is missing, with top half of paper underneath coming away. Splits to the leather to the joints of Vol II. General rubbing to the extremities. Corners slightly bumped. Previous owner's bookplate to both front pastedowns, with the initials 'JH' and the motto 'Carpe Diem' below the coat of arms.
