ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Marguerite de Lubert (1702 to 1785), or Marie-Madeleine, whose life is little known, is the author of wonderful folk tales. She was the daughter of Louis de Lubert, president of the Third Chamber of the Inquiry of Parliament, amateur musician (violin) and founder on 10 January 1722 of one of the first amateur orchestras in Paris, the Academy of Mellophiletes. She corresponded with Voltaire, and sent him a play of verses in 1732. (Wikipedia). CONDITION: Overall VG, especially for its age. External cover shows expected wear. Hinges are cracked and fragile, yet still attached. Title label is missing on the spine. Leaves have evenly toned with moderate foxing throughout. Unmarked except for previous owner's names written in both pencil and pen within the introductory pages. Pagination is complete. A lovely, antiquarian copy. Testo attribuito all'autrice e di datazione incerta, una autorizzazione di stampa, palesemente fittizia a pagina VIII riporta la data del 1701, più probabili altre datazioni tra il 1745 ed il 1790, ma la BNF data l'opera addirittura al 1864.
