Founded in 1827, the church moved to its current location in 1879 and the building was completed in 1902. The church, registered as a national historic building, has a unique architectural style with the octagonal dome. The church was home to Nobel Peace Prize winner and long-serving leader of the national Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) and the World Student Christian Federation, John R. Mott [1865-1955].
