Extracted from one of several equestrian books by Markham, The Compleat Horseman has chapters on training, the care of the horse, and on using him for travel - the text is taken from "Cheape and Good Husbandry" first published in 1614. For ease of reading, the editor has set the book into modern day spelling rather than retain Markham's early seventeenth century spelling. If the sense of a word has changed, the editor helpfully gives the modern equivalent as well, and he also provides Julian dates for high days and holy days such as Martinmas and Michaelmas. The unclipped dust-jacket has a half dozen or so small tears and nicks at both the head and tail. Previous owner's inscription. 76 pages.
