First Edition. Octavo, 8.75 x 5.75", yellow illustrated wrappers, 77, [1] pp, illustrations from drawings. A book written by a former prisoner at Stalag Luft IV in Poland, shortly after his return home to Alexandria, Virginia. The book combines a directory of prisoners with poems, sketches, and cartoons: "The publication of this little book began with the thought of providing a directory which might be of some use after the war in relocating acquaintances made at Stalag Luft IV. Later, it was decided to add a brief account of camp activities covering the lighter aspects of our P.O.W. life, and to include a few cartoons, sketches, and poems in order to provide a sort of souvenir booklet of the days spent at Kiefheide" (Foreword). This copy inscribed on the half title by Lambert P. Zaetsch, a prisoner at the camp. A good copy with staining and wear to covers, chip to rear wrapper at upper corner, wrappers splitting at spine ends, few pencil doodles to pages.
