A very scarce work.The first private edition of this work, limited to five hundred copies, of which this is numbered one-hundred and twenty-one.A romantic novella by Morris Dallett, follows the complicated loves of John, Salome, and Francis.Dallett was author the author of 'Pussy' and 'Helen of Troy'.Illustrated with an engraved title, two plates, engraved contents page, and tailpiece, by the author.With an introduction by Ludwig Behren.Collated, bound without four plates.Ink inscription of Grace Hoffman to the recto of the front free endpaper. Hoffmann was an American operatic mezzo-soprano who performed at many of the leading opera houses in Europe and America. In the original publisher's quarter paper vellum binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart. A small amount of loss to the head of the spine, mostly to the front joint, with a small amount of lifting. Light bumping to the extremities. Boards and spine are a little age-toned, with a few light marks. Ink to the rear joint. Very small tide mark to the tail of the front board. Front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with a few scattered spots. Good. book.
