Als Page beginnt er den Minnedienst an einer Auserkorenen, trinkt deren Waschwasser, unterzieht sich einer schmerzhaften Schönheitsoperation, um der Angebeteten zu gefallen und lässt sich zahlreiche Tricks einfallen, um ihr nahe zu kommen, die allerdings meist mit einer unsanften Landung im Burggraben enden.
