Im Jahr 1839 kaufte der württembergische Politiker Eugen von Maucler das Schloss und schuf dort eine bedeutende Bibliothek. Auf dem Exlibris befinden sich seine Initialen "E. M." und die Jahrszahl 1839. Schon vor 1926 wurden bedeutende Inkunabelbestände, u. a. aus dem Vorbesitz von Georg Kloß, veräußert und weitere Teile der Bibliothek wurden 1967 von 'Erasmushaus' in Basel angeboten.
