Binding sound; cloth rubbed lightly to moderately at spine ends and corner tips. Prior ownership of George W. Swain in manuscript to front endpage and top edge of title page dated 1895. Swain was the proprietor of a Riding Club in Millersville PA where he bought and sold saddle horses and conducted lesons. A single fold, 4 pp brochure of his Riding Club is laid in at front. Small cut paper bookplate of a subsequent owner pasted to front pastedown. Several pages with a top corner creased to mark a page of note and several pages with penned "stars" in margins and a few with a line or two underlined. Appended at rear are 11 pages of ads for NY City area purveyors of horse and riding equipment and services. Illustrated in text from drawings by Lund and Renault.
