The book is bound in red cloth with Lundborg illustration on the front cover. Beautiful art nouveau cover likely designed by Lundborg. Corners are bumped and spine caps softened, Rough-cut fore-edges. There is foxing throughout the book especially on pages adjacent to the twelve illustrations, and text and illustrations are generally clean and unmarked. The twelve full page, full color plates by American illustrator and book cover designer Florence Lundborg. Please see all images.

First edition of the Lane translation (single date upon title page only). 172, [4] pages. Hardcover: H 22cm x L 18cm. Lacks dust jacket. Red cloth rubbed; spine cloth darkened with short tears and slight fraying at ends; spine's gilt lettering dulled/flaked but still legible; pictorial front board's gilt stamping still reasonably bright but not vibrant; soiling and some staining most prevalent to rear board. Dulled gilt top edge; well toned deckle fore-edge; lighter toning to deckle bottom edge. Moderate toning to pictorial endpapers; past owner's personal bookplate on front pastedown; varied foxing to interior leaves; twelve color plates called for but one missing (opposite page 72) and plate opposite page 126 detached but laid-in. Plates illustrated by Florence Lundborg (misspelled on front board as Florence Lundburg). Binding reasonably firm. Else a good copy.
