They ended up in the small community of Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island. The accounts are taken from memory and from work diaries of the three generations of men who worked as loggers.

As well, a man who lived in Cowichan Bay in 1928-1929, records a story, handwritten in ink, on the final (blank) page. 207 pages plus index plus 8 glossy pages of illustrations from photos.
