First edition Very good illustrated boards in good dustjacket. Back flap of dustjacket cleanly removed, but the dignity of the dustjacket is still quite complete. Text nicely drawn throughout in black and white and color.

Vintage children's book which is in good condition for its age. A much harder to find copy of "Ideal Book for Girls" at a very reasonable price. Would make a lovely VINTAGE gift!

Previous owner, with his name in gilt on the lower spine area, was Edward Schroeder (1914-2010) Oregon's 8th State Forester, serving from 1965 to 1979, being responsible for the replanting of the Tillamook Burn, a 500 sq mile area in the Oregon Coast Range, that had been decimated by wildfires. Pictorial hard cover with red titles and a picture of a girl with brown hair and a red cardigan holding her dog. Condition very good, corners, edges and small piece on front rubbed, front endpapers grubby and marked, a few grubby marks in the margins else contents clean. With a colour frontispiece "The mobile policeman lay pinned beneath his motor-cycle" and further black and white illustrations throughout. The first story is "The Lights of Lambermere" by Bertha Leonard.

It later became a monthly magazine titled 'The New Crusade' and was edited by Wood-Allen alone with her daughter as assistant editor.
