Pictorial page borders, B&W vignettes and plates; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 369 pages; 1910 Macmillan HC/DJ in publisher's lidded, title lettered box. "Holiday Edition" of 1910 is the 5th overall printing. Snugly bound in a very handsome decorative pictorial cloth binding; olive cloth with pictorial center and pictorial borders in blue green and red and titles gilt outlined in red. The decorative binding is not signed nor attributed in the references I have checked. In the original rather plain white paper dust jacket lettered in green with red borders. Top edge gilt. Illustrated with decorative pictorial page borders and art nouveau chapter headings and tail pieces by George Wharton Edwards along with b&w plates reproducing classical art work by a number of artists. Dust jacket mildly shelf/ handling soiled to surfaces and with a few short closed edge tears. Publisher's original lidded gift box beige paper over card board is lettered in red to the lid and is moderately shelf soiled to the surfaces but structurally sound and solid. Quite uncommon in dust jacketed examples and scarcely seen in the publisher's gift box. NF in VG dust jacket and VG box.

Spine rather toned, corners gently bumped, textblock quite foxed throughout, else a Very Good copy overall.
