Book condition - Good plus; contents clean, no foxing, author's signature in ink on the title page, spiral binding good with no tears ; thin card covers with coloured illustration and title on the front ; covers lightly rubbed at the corners and edges and with no creases, back quite dusty with some faint marks and some foxing, spine complete, front again dusty with a few marks and foxing, and some tanning around the edges. Today the building houses Cobham Hall School, a private boarding school for girls, established there in 1962. This story book was issued by the school in aid of their swimming pool fund. I can little on the author other than he was the son of George and Patricia Mackean and grew up at Loughanmore House on the outskirts of Antrim, Northern Island. A rare little book, with a charming story and illustrations. No other copies, indeed no reference to it at all, found online at the time listed.
