Scarce hydrographic chart of the Seychelles and adjacent islands, published by the British Admiralty, with notes by Fauvel. Hydrographic chart of the Seychelles and adjacent islands, with relief shown by hachures, spot heights and bathymetric soundings, published by the British Admiralty, who produced nautical charts since 1795 under the auspices of the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office. With handwritten notes by Albert-Auguste Fauvel (18511909), the French explorer and naturalist, and the author of the first monograph of the Seychelles Islands, Unpublished Documents on the History of the Seychelles Islands Anterior to 1810 (Mahé, 1909), which also included is a listing of early maps of the Seychelles and 38 of them had been reproduced and published in a separate portfolio. Provenance: From the estate of Albert-Auguste Fauvel. Folded, chipped at the edges. Some foxing. Some small closed tears at foldings. Otherwise in very good condition. Engraved map.
