This is a collection of biographical sketches written by George Macdonald of Lairg (1846-1930) of some of the proiminent figures in the religious life of the district and county of Sutherland. They first appeared as occasional articles in the 'Free Church Monthly', and in this book they have been divided into the following categories: Ministers of Sutherland, Men of Sutherland, and Godly Women in Sutherland. The sketches have been edited by his daughter, and there is a preface by Rev. John Macleod. The book is bound in the original red cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine and front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with some shelf wear to the boards and slight fading to the spine. The spine ends are lightly bumped and the spine is slightly cocked.
