English. See images for condition. About the book >.>.> In a wild deer-forest within the Grampian range, there exists a dark, gloomy corrie where the sun only briefly shines during the long summer days. At the gorge's head, steep rocks rise above a rushing burn, where a pair of Golden Eagles established their eyrie long ago. This nest, strictly protected by the forest's proprietors and tenants, had expanded considerably over the years. Three years prior to the recent events, the author climbed the rock to photograph the young eaglet?one egg having failed to hatch?at various stages of its development. It was only after the eaglet took flight that the author recognised the unique photographic opportunities presented by observing the eagles in their natural setting. After three years, on April 23, 1909, the author received joyful news: the eyrie was once again occupied, and the female eagle was brooding over two eggs. The head stalker, whose assistance proved invaluable, noted that one of the eggs was nearly white, leading to the expectation of a single eaglet hatching. The author was determined to study the eagles' habits further and capture a series of photographs illustrating the progress of the eaglets and showcasing the characteristic postures of their parents, from the incubation period through to the young birds' eventual departure from the nest. This book presents a detailed account of the life of Golden Eagles, blending observational insights with remarkable photographic documentation, providing an intimate glimpse into their home environment.
