Following each plate is a descriptive narrative in English and French… Original sketches by Major William Light, engraved by many of the leading exponents of the period including J.C. Allen, Robert Wallis, E. Goodall, Charles Heath, H. Hobson, Ed. Findon, T, Byrne, Wm. Cooke, etc. Scenes include Cefalù, Segesta, Messina, the Bay of Palermo, Girgenti, Castel Guelfonio, Catania, Alicata, Ear of Dionysius at Syracuse. Bound in black half Morocco over sand-grained boards, gilt spine. Edges of spine slightly rubbed, corner tips bumped. Edges of pages marbled in sympathy with endpapers. Bound with the half-title. All plates extremely clean save for the frontispiece and engraved title which are moderately foxed. Bookplate of Robert J.
