    Rare original edition of this philosophical dissertation published following the appearance of the 2 spectacular comets of 1664 and 1665. A very good later half leather binding. 8vo. [18pp.]/pp.226/[4pp. - "Table Des Chapitres."] . 17.5cm x 11.5cm x 2cm. Dark brown calf spine and corners over marbled boards. Spine with four raised bandS and crimson red leather title label: "De La Nature Des Cometes". Later endpapers. Original free-endpapers. Printed title-page with previous owner's signature. Clear French text on lightly toned paper. pale marginal staining (heavier at final leaves/table), one of the prelims with a closed tear, some soiling and marks to title, front blank with spotting. A very good copy of this scarce publication ** "Gabriel Vendages de Malapeire (or Malepeyre), born in Toulouse on July 26, 1624 and died in the same city on May 5, 1702, is a French aristocrat, parliamentarian and poet .
