Parmi ses premieres peintures figure une toile representant "Jesus dans la maison de Marthe et Marie", conservee dans l'eglise Saint-Antoine de Padoue a Caserte et achetee par le roi Ferdinand II de Bourbon lors de la Biennale de Bourbon de 1848, alors que Federico etait encore etudiant a l'Institut royal des beaux-arts (Academie des beaux-arts de Naples).
