This is the first guide to bring together the architecture made during the three decades between Khrushchev and Gorbachev, from the naive modernism of the "thaw" of the late 1950s through postmodernism. Buildings include the Palace of Youth, the Rossiya cinema, the Pioneer Palace, the Ostankino TV Tower, the TASS headquarters, the "golden brains" of the Academy of Sciences and less well-known structures such as the House of New Life and the Lenin Komsomol Automobile Plant Museum. The authors situate Moscow's postwar architecture within the historical and political context of the Soviet Union, while also referencing developments in international architecture of the period.

Erstpressung dieser Einspielung von Mussorgskis Original-Fassung(?) für Klavier solo. Aufnahme vom November 1955 (Moskau?). Zu Lebzeiten Mussorgskys wurde die 1874 komponierte Suite völlig ignoriert, so gut wie nie aufgeführt und erst einige Jahre nach seinem Tod erschien die Partitur 1886 erstmals gedruckt. Im Konzertsaal erklang sie fast nie, bis sie in den 20er-Jahren des vorigen Jahrhunderts wiederentdeckt und populär wurde, nachdem Maurice Ravel im Jahre 1922 für Sergej Kussewizki (s)eine Orchestrierung dazu erstellt hatte. Der russische Pianist und Musikpädagoge Malinin (1930-2001) trat als Klaviersolist in der Sowjetunion auf, später auch in Westeuropa und Japan. Seit 1972 war er Professor am Moskauer Konservatorium, ließ sich aber später in Frankreich nieder, wo er Meisterklassen leitete und in Dijon ein Musikinstitut gründete, das seinen Namen trägt. Er starb in Kassel, wo seine Witwe Tatjana Fedkina-Mainina zum seinem Andenken ein musikpädagogisches Zentrum einrichtete und einen internationalen Piano-Wettbewerb ins Leben rief. Sprache: de.
