Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Included. [issued from 1944 William Morrow 1st edition plates]. Fine hardcover in chipped pictorial dustwrapper. This is one of the coolest dustwrappers on any Mann book, showing the Kid riding madly through town with his gun ready and his horse's hooves stirring a cloud of dust. In this t…ale, when the Comanche Kid sidles up to a bar, he usually asks for lemonade. But don't let his childlike demeanor catch you off guard! Author Edward Beverly Mann, son of a Methodist minister, was born in Hollis, Kansas. A rugged sportsman, he was a columnist for "Field and Stream" and edited gun magazines, including "The American Rifleman" for the National Rifle Association. In the 1930s several of his tales were adapted to B western cinema. His commitment to the history of the west was fulfilled during his 1950s editing stint overseeing the University of New Mexico Press.
