unbound. Condition: near fine. Important letter providing an extensive biographical history of his experiences with European Theater, but more importantly defining his goals for the establishment of his lifelong dream in setting up an "American Theatre Training Institute, 4 pages, 11 x 8.5 inches, New York City, May 15, 1979, to Maria Piscator, co-founder (with husband Erwin) of the Dramatic Workshop which helped launch the careers of Marlin Brando and Tony Randall, in small part: ".First, here is a compact statement about the American Theatre Training Institute (ATTI).which is still the story of a long and, as yet, unfulfilled desire. In our talk you seemed to respond to the idea of ATTI, so hear goes.My major concentration is to develop ATTI so that it can help to continue to create for our country an artistically trained corps of theatre people equipped with a fully professional, solid education in theatre arts and techniques -- acting, voice, speech, movement, gymnastics, history of theatre, literature, art, music, etc. -- for a sufficient period of time to provide each one of them with a firmly-based, strong and structured craft that will fully prepare them for their profession in the same way that the best European theater people are proudly certain of their craft." Note: Boston University is the repository of Paul Mann's personal papers. Near fine Condition. Canadian-American film and theatre actor best remembered for his development of Method Acting in America through his founding of the prestigious Actors Workshop. Alumni included Ruby Dee, Ossie Davis, Cicely Tyson, Sidney Poitier, Al Lewis, and Vic Morrow.
