The author masterfully weaves together the conflicting emotions of a young woman torn between her love for a man and the duty she owes her family. The story explores the complexities of societal expectations and the power of personal desires, which often collide with deeply held moral convictions. The reader is drawn into a world where honor is paramount, and a single act of transgression can unleash a chain of tragic consequences. The story highlights the potent force of fate in shaping human lives, demonstrating how external circumstances can irrevocably alter destinies. The author's skillful use of language and captivating plot create a timeless story that speaks to universal themes of love, loss, and the enduring struggle between passion and reason. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Softcover. Condition: Very Good. First edition. Quarto. Single bifolium with a single-sheet-insert making six pages, A discount stamp and "B25" written in ink on the front cover, bumping to the corners, and light soiling to the exterior, still a complete and very good copy. For voice and piano. Plate number, 73612-3. Features short samples of five other songs. Robert E. Service was an English-born Canadian poet who is sometimes referred to as "the Canadian Kipling." One can't help but wonder if Service's words somehow found and influenced another Canadian with a song called "Heart of Gold," the great Neil Young. But probably not as this piece is unrecorded by *OCLC* and it appears to be equally uncommon in the trade.
