21.5x 30.5cm, contemporary hand colour engraved map, very good to fine condition. Map of Port Plaisance Newfoundland. From Atlas Allegemaine Histoire der Reisen zu Wasser und zu Lande. Kershaw 520, plate 375. The map shows the Bay of Placentia on Newfoundland's southern coast with details of the region around the fort, of Placentia Bay (here Bay von Plaisance), the nearby battery, and other topographical information. Compass rose with fleur-de-lis. An early and important map.
