Tra le pp. 48-49, 4 tavv. incise e ripiegate più volte con raffigurazione di strumenti medici e di un'iniezione nel braccio di un paziente (la prima… tav. presenta un alone non grave); altre 3 tavv. incise f.t., due delle quali raffiguranti un teschio umano, inserite fra le dissertazioni sotto elencate. In fine, tre tabelle di osservazioni meteorologiche fatte in Genova nell'agosto, settembre e ottobre 1801. In fine, un indice manoscritto. Ex-libris manoscritto del primo Ottocento al titolo del medico A. Orlandini di Borgomanero. Bell'esemplare con qualche lieve fioritura. Prima e unica edizione, molto rara, della prima opera con una raffigurazione iconografica degli strumenti e dell'atto della vaccinazione. L'opera apparve tre anni dopo l'edizione originale della fondamentale An Inquiry into the Causes and Effects of the Variolae Vaccinae, a Disease Known by the Name of Cow Pox di Edward Jenner, introduttore del vaccino contro il vaiolo e padre dell'immunizzazione. Le tavole raffigurano l'atto di inoculazione del vaccino e gli strumenti che il Marchelli concepì appositamente per tale operazione. Manca a Wellcome, Blake, Garrison / Morton e a tutte le principali bibliografie mediche; l'opera è solo citata brevemente a Crookshank, History and Pathology of Vaccination, 1889. L'opera del Marchelli termina alla p. 45 (le pp. 46-47 sono di postscritto e di errata); a essa fanno seguito dissertazioni mediche: 1) Giuseppe Mojon, Memoria sopra un nuovo stromento per misurare la densità, e combustibilità de' fluidi per mezzo della Refrazione della luce. Letta nella detta Società [la Società Medica di Emulazione di Genova] il giorno 25 Giugno 1801.
