No Binding. Condition: Very Good. , (illustrator). 1st Edition. Marcus Ward and Co. printed Valentine card showing a man on his knees offering a woman a rose. On verso is neatly written lightly in pencil is the date 1895. Marcus Ward used a variety of artists for his books, this one is not signed. A light bend in top right corner, a small black spot in image, otherwise in excellent condition. Sizes are 13 x 17 cm (5 x 6.75 inches).

Hardcover. Condition: Good. First Edition. B&W Photos and Portraits, some folding; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 575 pages; 1906 Burd & Fletcher. Stout HC in original black cloth lettered in gilt. Profusely illustrated with half-tone b&w phot portraits, some engravings and folding group photos. Binding shaken but generally sound; partial split to the front endpaper hinge has been archivally reinforced. Mild shallow damp line top front corner of the front endpages and first 30 or so leaves; a heavier and wider damp line across the top corner of the last 200 or so pages, most prominent in the last 75 or so pages. There are some instances where the glossy paper adhered due to the moisture exposure; prior owner separated these with some instances of loss of the surface of the page at the top corner but generally without any significant loss of text or image. Cloth a little rubbed and worn at corners and spine ends; a few signatures starting slightly at the front edge. Several of the folding photo plates a bit rubbed or furred at front edge. Sound decent copy with flaws. Good only.

Very good, clean, tight text throughout BUT end papers and text edges a bit browned / spotted. Covers are bumped and browned around the edges. Dustwrapper/dustjacket has damage to top and base of spine and is a bit creased / chipped around the edges in places.

Landscape 8vo, pp12 Illustrated with four full page chromolithographs printed in colour & gold which are printed on one side only and the musical score to the back of both covers. Soft cover issued without dust jacket. Pictorial card covers with other Nimmo publications to back cover. Card binding in good condition with small split to bottom of spine and a little rubbing to edges and tips. Inside a few small smudges, otherwise all pages and wonderful plates in very good clean and bright condition. A lovely copy of this scarce item.

Original dark blue bevel-edge, blind-stamped cloth, decorated gilt and black, dark brown endpapers, all edges gilt. Small frays to the head and tail of the backstrip, three inch area of the backstrip bleached otherwise a VG+ copy.

Each ex-library in original wraps, sunfaded and scuffed to covers, typical library marks, text pages without problems. About 200 pages each. 8 1/2 x 11 inches. Books divided in English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish sections. Many, many entries.

Hardcover. Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. The Hardcovers are heavily dented on the corners and peeling from the spine. Heavily foxed and discoloured within. Starting to fall apart but for it's age, this is in fair condition.

Softcover. Condition: Very Good. First edition Slim octavo. 48pp. Coated wrappers nicely printed in navy, red, and gilt. Wrappers soiled and worn with a small chip and short splits at the crown and a small chip on the unprinted lower wrap, front cover with a small corner stain slightly affecting the corner margin throughout, sound and near very good. Governor's complimentary copy with a slip tipped-on to the title page. Several mentions are made of the Civil War, including this haunting passage: "The coffining and removal from the dead from the field at Antietam, and their re-internment in their appropriate lots in the Cemetery is progressing." Ward was an abolitionist bfore the Civil War and afterword was involved in veteran care. He served one term in the U.S. House of Representatives representing New Jersey's 6th District.

Hardcover. Small 4to. (20cm by 17cm) pp [26]. Original publisher's red cloth, lettered and illustrated in gilt on the front cover. No date, [1896]. Illustrated in colour throughout. Slight marking and faint staining to covers, otherwise clean, bright, very good copy with clean text.

A beautifully produced Antique colour chromolithographic calendar from Marcus Ward with twelve lovely illustrations, the calendar measures 8.5 inches by 6.5 inches approx. Some edge wear and edge creases, the loose leaves are held together with a modern tie, else all contents are pictured so condition and content can be seen, This is a lighter item, shipping costs will be reduced accordingly at checkout where possible.
