The catalogue consists of double page spreads, each with a portrait of a participating artist, facing an example of their work.Catalogue for the exhibition held at the Museo de Arte Moderno in Bogota, Colombia on May 13th - June 13th, 1976. Jonier Marín's project focused on drawing and was based on the collaboration between artists from different countries who were simply asked to contribute a drawing. Whilst the artists were only to use paper and pencil for their drawings, they were also asked to attach a documentary passport-type photograph. Eventually forty-six artists made drawings and also sent their photographs to Colombia. Papel y Lápiz was presented simultaneously at the Museum of Modern Art of Bogotá and at the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of Sao Paulo (Jonier Marín used the original drawings sent by the participants in the Bogotá museum show, and Xerox copies in the Sao Paulo museum show). Papel y Lápiz can be considered the first international exhibition of mail art held in Colombia. With contributions from Pierre Restany, Fred Forets, Joan Rabascall, Herve Fischer, Annette Messager, Klaus Groh, Philippe Cazal, Klaus Groh, Guglielmo Achille Cavellini, E. Antonio Vigo, Luca Patella, Gérald Minkoff and many others. This copy from the collection of Klaus Groh, with his label pasted to first leaf. Original wrappers, with browning to front cover and spine. Internal pages browned due to age.
