hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: none -as issued. Hardcover, First Edition,1986 Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., Baltimore,167 pages,NOT EX LIB. Very Good+,No DJ-as issued. Dark Blue boards with gilt titles. Corners sharp. Text tight, bright, and unmarked. Only flaw is prior owner handwrote her name on ffep. A mere whisper of shelf/edge wear. In the period of 1855 to 1862, 225,000 emigrants left via Bremen. This partial reconstruction of the Bremen passenger lists is based on Passenger Lists of Vessels Arriving At New York, an American source from the National Archives Microfilm Publication M237. Inclusion in this volume is limited to those for whom a specific place of origin in Germany is given, approximately 35,000 passengers. Since the lists were created from information verbally supplied by the passengers and many names were partially or completely anglicized in New York, there are frequent misspellings of names and places. Consequently, all possible spelling variations should be searched for. To assist the researcher, an entry is added under what is assumed to be the original German spelling. A handsome and durable volume. ISBN- 0806311606 LOC SSS-04.
