1st edition hardback with dust jacket Very nice copy quarto 528pp., colour & b/w plates, text ills., notes, references, index, A unique and cardinal work of reference which includes nearly 3000 artists arranged alphabetically. There are biographies for each and, as far as possible, the dates of birth and death, if and when they worked in Indonesia, details of their exhibitions, of the museums which hold their works, and lists of related books and literature for further study. Over 800 illustrations including over 112 pages of full colour, depict the various aspects of life and scenery in the archipelago arranged chronologically from 1600-1950.
