Published in Sydney Australia in 1901 this is a rare souvenir album of photographs recording the celebrations of the inauguration of the Commonwealth of Australia when Australia became a nation on 1 January 1901, after the British Parliament passed legislation enabling the six Australian colonies to collectively govern in their own right as the Commonwealth of Australia the book is a large landscape folio paperback format measuring 31cm by 24cm approx., 64 pages, profusely illustrated throughout with fantastic photographs of the celebrations, there is heavy corner creasing and curling to lower page edges of the opening 18 pages, with lesser creasing within, most of this could be flattened out with some patience, foxing to some pages, most pages are protected with tissue guards, a few tissue guards are missing, some of these are creased, some dustiness to curled page corners else in good acceptable condition A RARE SURVIVING EXAMPLE OF THIS SCARCE BOOK, this is a larger than average book, overseas shipping costs will be higher than the basic standard quote.
