Mass Market Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Cover: Mark Salwowski (illustrator). First British Paperback. Some reading creases to spine which is slightkly curved from being read - this is a thick, 503 page novel. Pages starting to tan, mainly towards the edges. Apart from some very minor shelfwear, the cover is bright and clean, with an excellent painting by Mark Salwowski. Thrown into the alternate universe of 14th century England, 20th century mathematician Jim Eckert and his wife Angie have become Sir James, Baron de Bois de Malencontri, and Lady Angela. A bit of a shock, but they'd coped with it. In fact, they were dealing with their new life's hazards and magical manifestations just fine. Until Jim is suddenly transformed into a dragon. None too pleased about this latest turn of events, Jim turns for help to his neighbour, the magician S. Carolinus, who takes him on as an apprentice. When Prince Edward is captured by the French at the Battle of Poitiers, Jim sets out with some companions, including Aaargh the wolf, to join the English forces. He ends up as chief pawn in a battle against the Dark Powers - with extraordinary consequences. Book.

Softcover. Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. A near-fine volume.; B&W Photographs; 10.0 X 8.5 X 2.6 inches; 264 pages; "Forsythe, host of CBC Radio's mid-day show BC Almanac, marks the 100th anniversary of World War I by teaming with historian Greg Dickson and the ever resourceful BC Almanac audience to compile a sweeping portrayal of that crucial chapter of BC history. Of the 611,000 Canadians who fought for King and Country, 55,570 were from British Columbia--the highest per capita rate of enlistment in the country. Of that contingent, 6,225 died in battle, a critical loss to a fledgling province of barely 400,000. Compiling stories, artifacts and photos sent in by BC Almanac listeners from across the province, this volume tells of submarine smuggling, bagpipes lost on the battlefield and of the ongoing struggles by soldiers who made it home. It tells of battles that set records for mass death amid conditions of unequalled squalor, but also of the heroism of front-line nurses and soldiers like George Maclean, a First Nations man from the Okanagan, who won the Distinguished Conduct Medal. By turns devastating, harrowing, insightful and miraculous, these stories reveal much about the spirit and resilience of a people who survived one of history's greatest disasters to build the province we have today.".

His paintings, which are large format color-field works on canvas, are abstract and reflect the artist's reductive approach to art. He refines content presented by reducing the composition to the most essential of elements, and renders beautiful yet unsentimental color. The resulting paintings are evocative of the joy of the creative process and urge the viewers to participate on a visceral rather than intellectual level." Size: Large Quarto. Book.
