Scarce first edition of this collection - poster-sized reproductions of celebrated outsider artist Hogencamp's "Marwencol" photographs - focusing on the female inhabitants of his town of miniatures. To know Hogencamp's Marwencol project is to know the artist's personal story - "On April 8, 2000, Mark Hogancamp was attacked by five men and left for dead outside of a bar in Kingston, NY. After nine days in a coma, he awoke to find he had no memory of his previous adult life. He had to relearn how to eat, walk and write." Thus states the official Marwencol website, dedicated to the project that Hogencamp embarked on after his insurance ran out just 40 days into his recovery: a 1:6 scale WWII-era town populated by painstakingly detailed dolls modeled after himself, his friends and family, and even his attackers. He would stage striking scenes and photograph them - the results are a testament to the resiliency of creativity and the therapeutic power of art. The women of Marwencol are front and center in this collection of full-color 27" x 36' posters, designed in 2014 for the premium subscribers of Esopus, the publication that first debuted Hogancamp's Marwencol photographs in 2005.
