Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Biomass is currently the fourth largest energy sourceand its share in the future world energy supply isexpected to increase. Traditionally, it has beencombusted in fires, ovens and boilers. This bookaddresses the question how biomass may… be used moreefficienty and economically. Through gasification ofbiomass, produced gas could be increasingly used inmodern devices such as gas turbines and fuel cells orin chemical reactors. This work analyzes the thermodynamic efficiency ofgasification, with emphasis on the effect offeedstock composition. A promising possibility toenhance the fuel properties of woody biomass prior togasification is experimentally explored, namelytorrefaction. This technology comprises a thermalpre-treatment, in which wood is roasted attemperatures in the range of 230-300 degrees C. Novelconcepts for integration of wood torrefaction andgasification are highlighted, which may contribute tothe development and introduction of advancedgasification processes.
