Hardback. Condition: New. This book applies attachment theory to group psychotherapy, explaining how group therapists can effectively work with members who have different attachment styles. Patients in group therapy often struggle with interpersonal problems and difficulties regulating emotions. Group therapy is an ideal format for many such patients because it exposes them to ample feedback from the group and leader in a safe environment. However, the specific needs of each member vary. Attachment theory offers an effective framework for determining how best to intervene with each member and the group as a whole. By understanding the needs of each member based on his or her attachment style, the leader can best foster corrective emotional exchanges that challenge members' maladaptive beliefs about themselves and others. The chapters provide clinical guidance and case examples for numerous aspects of group therapy, including screening and preparing potential members, identifying individuals who are not good candidates for group therapy, and fostering here-and-now emotional experiences that help group members move toward positive change. …

Jointly published with Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque. This report is the fourth in a series of efforts by the Los Alamos National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, to identify problems and propose solutions for international safeguarding of light-water reactor spent-fuel reprocessing plants. Problem areas for international safeguards were identified in a previous Problem Statement (LA-7551-MS/SAND79-0108). Accounting concepts that could be verified internationally were presented in a subsequent study (LA-8042). Concepts for containment/surveillance were presented, conceptual designs were developed, and the effectiveness of these designs was evaluated in a companion study (SAND80-0160). The report discusses the coordination of nuclear materials accounting and containment/surveillance concepts in an effort to define an effective integrated safeguards system. The Allied-General Nuclear Services fuels reprocessing plant at Barnwell, South Carolina, was used as the reference facility. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Safeguards are a system of inspection and verification of the peaceful uses of nuclear materials as part of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), supervised by the International Atomic Energy Agency. The mission statement of the Department of Safeguards is: "The primary role of the {Safeguard} Department is to administer and implement IAEA safeguards. It also contributes to nuclear arms control and disarmament, by responding to requests for verification and technical assistance associated with related agreements and arrangements." The Department is organized into operations divisions, which include the inspectors that conduct safeguards inspections in the IAEA's member states to confirm that they are living up to their NPT commitments, and support divisions, that provide the tools and services for the safeguards inspectors to complete their mission. Safeguards inspections compare a state's nuclear program, as declared to the IAEA, to observed nuclear activities in the country. Presumed First Edition, First printing thus.…
