Red cloth hard cover with gilt titles within black frame on the slightly faded spine and no significant cover wear. Inside the front cover is a book plate - the gift of M Oppenheim (1853-1927, pioneer historian of English naval administration) to Bath Public Reference Library in 1919 when the book was presumably rebound, but none of the usual lending library labels. This volume contains 3 separate books which appear to have previously been cream or grey soft cover paperbacks. Surprisingly clean interior. Overall these books published in 1890 and 1892 and bound in one volume, and signed by two of the authors (Marlet, Harrisse) is in very good condition. Signed by Author(s).

The work look at the Battle of… Auneau, which was the second defeat of France by an invasion of German forces in support of the Huguenots during the French Religious War. Illustrated with two folding maps. One folding map is uncut to the gutter. With the original paper wraps bound in to the rear. Written by Michel de la Huguerye. Huguerye also wrote a collection of memoirs that were unpublished until after his death. Huguerye was known for embroidering his non-fiction works with elements of fiction. With an institutional label from the University of London to the front pastedown. In a signed binding, possibly by a Wood London. Collated from copies held on Copac at Cambridge University and St Andrews University, complete. In a signed half morocco binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, smart. Light rubbing to the joints,to the head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities. Institutional label to the front pastedown. Institutional stamp to the recto to the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with scattered spots. Institutional stamp to the verso of the title page. Very Good. Not Stated (illustrator). book.
